GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Navy wrestling team fell to 18th-ranked Missouri (30-12), Northwestern (27-10), and fourth-ranked Oklahoma (27-6) Saturday at the Lone Star Duals at South Grand Prairie High School. “We tested ourselves against some nationally-ranked competition, but we came up short again,” Navy head coach Bruce Burnett said. “Our guys just didn’t do the things they need to in order to win against nationally ranked competitors. We have to find out where we are and get ready for Rutgers coming up next weekend. We didn’t perform well last weekend at the Sunshine Open or this weekend in Texas, but our guys are still competing hard.” Navy (3-4) opened the tournament with a 30-12 loss to Missouri, as Mike Barikian (Jr./Stratford, N.J.), Frank Edwards (Jr./Olney, Md.) and Nate Gulosh (So./Stow, Ohio) each picked up victories for the Mids. Edwards scored a 5-0 victory over Tyron Woodley in the 165-pound weight class, while Barikian edged Matt Turner, 3-2, in the 174-pound weight class. Gulosh won by forfeit in the 141-pound division. In the Mids' 27-10 loss to Northwestern, Gulosh scored his second victory of the day by defeating John Glacche, 5-2. Sophomore Pat Lukanich (LaGrange, Ill.) won a narrow 3-2 decision against Josh Ballard in the 149-pound weight class, and senior Luke Lazzo (Rochester Hills, Mich.) scored a lopsided 14-1 win against Nolan Walther in the 165-pound division. Navy fell to Oklahoma, 27-6, in its final match of the day. Edwards scored his second win of the day with an 11-8 victory over Wes Roberts in the 165-pound weight class. Junior Travis Manion (Doylestown, Pa.) was the only other winner against the Sooners for Navy, posting a 5-3 victory against Derek Brown in the 184-pound division.
