Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Craig Candeto ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Navy Midshipmen to a 38-7 victory over the Southern Methodist Mustangs in the season opener for both teams. Candeto also connected on 4-of-9 passes for 106 yards for the Midshipmen (1-0). Keylon Kincade carried 20 times for 101 yards in the loss for the Mustangs (0-1). SMU got off to a quick start and led 7-0 after John Hampton took a 13-yard pass from Tate Wallis in for a score. Navy proceeded to score the next 38 points of the contest, and got started with Eric Roberts' nine-yard touchdown run with 6:20 remaining in the first quarter. Candeto then scored three straight touchdowns, on runs of two and 56 yards, before carrying from one yard out to put Navy ahead 28-7 going into the locker room at the half. Roberts started the scoring in the second half with a one-yard touchdown run, and Eric Rolfs drilled a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Midshipmen the 31-point victory. Roberts finished the contest with 72 yards rushing on nine carries, and led the team with three receptions for 96 yards. Wallis finished the night 12-of-31 for 144 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. Navy, which finished winless through 10 games last season, amassed 293 yards rushing, while SMU collected 182 yards on the ground.
